A stunning Enicar Sherpa Super-Divette 144-35-01 "Tropical Champagne dial". with a 35mm EPSA case, beautifully aged and brilliantly unique "tropical champagne dial", this vintage Enicar certainly stands out from the crowd.
Enicar, founded in 1913 by the Racine family (Enicar being Racine spelt backwards), they became known for outfitting mountain climbers and other various adventurers with its watches in the 1950s. this was done on purpose as a form of a marketing strategy. When a Swiss team wore Enicar watches to the top of Mount Everest in 1956 they quickly grew in popularity, and about a year later the first "Sherpa" was released being named after the heroic Sherpa guides who escorted, and in a lot of cases carried, European explorers to the summit of Mount Everest.
Condition report:
Presented in overall good vintage condition. The dial has taken on a lovely even patina and remains clean throughout. The lume plots on the hands and dial are matching and complete. The case remains in decent shape, retaining its unique angles. As expected there are a few scratches here and there but overall it's in good order. The movement is freshly serviced and finally the watch is fitted to a new, third party leather strap. Other strap options are available on request.
