A lovely example of the Omega Speedmaster Professional 105.012-65. We love vintage Speedies, in fact it was the first watch we bought!
The Speedmaster reference 105.012 was launched in 1964 and produced for a relatively short period until 1968. It was the first true "Moon Watch" having been the first to land on the moon - worn by both Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the Apollo XI mission in 1969. It also ushered in a number of design changes that created the look of the modern Speedmaster we see today.
Most notably was inclusion of protection for the pushers and crown. The lugs also changed from straight to faceted (known as ‘Lyre Lugs’) and the whole case grew to 42mm.
On the dial front, the 105.012 was the first reference to include the ‘Professional’ inscription. Previously it was suggested this was added from July 1965 following NASA’s certification of the Speedmaster for its astronauts. However more recent research has confirmed the Professional inscription was in fact included from the start of production of the 105.012 in early 1964. Finally, this reference also saw the addition of the T’s on either side of SWISS MADE, although not until April 1964.
This example was purchased from a good friend of the company who's father had originally owned it. Having sat largely unused for many years it remains in excellent overall shape. We have just had the movement fully serviced and also ordered an Extract from the Archives.
Technical & Condition:
Presented in overall excellent vintage condition. The case remains in decent shape retaining its original lines including the double stepped case back. The watch is fitted with the sought after DO90 (Dot over 90) bezel which remains in good shape for its age. The dial, a later replacement, remains in excellent condition with gorgeously aged lume plots. Likewise the hands remain in great condition and match the colour on the dial. The calibre 321 movement is freshly serviced and finally the watch is fitted with a new leather strap.

What if something goes wrong with the watch
Whilst all our watches are fully serviced before sale, if something does go wrong, we'll repair it for free as part of our 1 year warranty
Do watches come with original box and papers?
It depends on the individual watch. You can see details under "The Basics" heading on this page. For the majority of vintage watches their original box and papers have been lost to time. Whilst they are nice to have, it’s important to note that “box and papers” DO NOT authenticate a watch despite what many in our trade say. It’s also important to realise alot of sellers (including some of the most well known in the UK) put together full sets of box, papers, hang tags etc by buying blank paperwork and boxes in the secondary market. This is a very regrettable, but unfortunately common occurrence in the trade but something we will never do!
How do I know it will fit?
For metal bracelets we provide the size it will currently fit in the description section of this page. If this measurement is too large or too small we are able to assist in either adding or removing links. We also offer this service, post service on a at-cost basis (i.e. we don't add a margin).
Can you change the strap?
Absolutely! If you don't like the current strap, let us know and we'll change it for free! We maintain a broad selection of styles and can also source straps to your specification free of charge.
