A beautiful example of the Omega Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66 from circa 1967. Presented in excellent overall condition and complete with an Extract from the Archives this watch perfectly shows off why vintage Speedies are so highly sought after!
The Omega Speedmaster Professional reference 105.012 was launched in 1964 and produced up to 1968. It is arguably the most important Speedmaster produced, not only is it the definitive “Moon watch” having been the first to land on the moon - worn by both Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in 1969, it also featured a number of design changes that would usher in the look of today's modern Speedmaster.
The first and most notably of these changes was inclusion of protection for the pushers and crown. The case also changed to make use of faceted lugs (known as ‘Lyre Lugs’) instead of straight ones and the whole case grew to 42mm.
As for the dial front, the 105.012 was the first reference to include the ‘Professional’ inscription. In the past it had been suggested this was added from July 1965 following NASA’s certification of the Speedmaster for its astronauts. However more recent research has confirmed the Professional inscription was included from the start of production of the 105.012 in early 1964. Finally, this reference saw the addition of the T’s on either side of SWISS MADE, albeit not until April 1964.

Do watches come with original box and papers?
It depends on the individual watch. You can see details under "The Basics" heading on this page. For the majority of vintage watches their original box and papers have been lost to time. Whilst they are nice to have, it’s important to note that “box and papers” DO NOT authenticate a watch despite what many in our trade say. It’s also important to realise alot of sellers (including some of the most well known in the UK) put together full sets of box, papers, hang tags etc by buying blank paperwork and boxes in the secondary market. This is a very regrettable, but unfortunately common occurrence in the trade but something we will never do!
How do I know it will fit?
For metal bracelets we provide the size it will currently fit in the description section of this page. If this measurement is too large or too small we are able to assist in either adding or removing links. We also offer this service, post service on a at-cost basis (i.e. we don't add a margin).
