Rolex Submariner Ref.1680 'Single Red' Mk.IV, 1973

An excellent Mark IV example of the rare and highly collectable Rolex Submariner reference 1680, "Single Red". This stunning Mark IV example is in excellent condition throughout, is fully serviced and comes with box, numerous paperwork, hang tag, spare link and Rolex Service Card.

The Rolex Submariner reference 1680 "Single Red" (referring to the red font used for the word Submariner) was launched in 1967 (as with most things vintage Rolex there is some debate about the exact year!) along with its equally famous cousin the Rolex Sea-Dweller 1665 "Double Red". The Rolex Single Red is interesting not only because it is one of only a few to sport red writing but also because it was the first Rolex Submariner to include a date function and the now famous cyclops magnifying lens.

This particular Mark IV example features a beautifully aged dial and handset with the most gorgeous cream lume plots. The case is also in exceptional condition for its age with thick lugs and free from serious wear. The bezel is clean and free from major marks. Likewise the movement is immaculate having been well cared for throughout its life (as evidenced from the numerous service receipts). The watch is fitted to the correct Oyster "Flip-lock" bracelet ref.93150 along with 580 end links. Finally the watches comes complete with a number of accessories including  ​an extra link, hang tag, various receipts and a Rolex box.​
