Heuer Carrera 3647 T 'Red Tachy'

An exceptional example of the Heuer Carrera 3647 T with a 'Red Tachymetre' dial. At the time, the 3647 was marketed as a Carrera 45 owing to its 45-minute register at the 3 o'clock position. The 'Red Tachy' is one of the rarer variants of the Heuer Carrera reference 3647.

The Heuer Carrera line was launched in 1963 with the purpose of creating a sleek and highly legible chronograph. Named after the lethal Carrera Panamericana race through Mexico, the Heuer Carrera would go onto become one of the most iconic watch designs of the 1960s. 

As with all Carrera's the standout feature is its clean and minimalist dial design. The reference 3647 T features a tachometer scale in beautiful red writing with the tachometer serving as a way to record average speed in miles (or kilometres) per hour over a measured mile (or km). 

The Carrera is housed in an elegant 36mm case and is powered by the 17-jewel Valjoux 92 manual wind movement. This particular example is in excellent condition with a sharp case and clean dial. The Valjoux 92 was recently serviced by the owner and remains in excellent condition with all the functions working as expected.

Finally, the watch has been fitted with a stunning brown leather strap that also features a Heuer buckle. 

For anyone looking for a Carrera 45 3647 T 'Red Tachy' to add to their collection, this example is truly worthy of your consideration. With examples in this condition becoming harder and harder to find, especially at this price, it could be some time before we come across another like it!
