An excellent example of the sought after Heuer Autavia 2446C NS. Purchased from the original and only owner, this stunning watch is just back from a full service after sitting in a drawer for the past 35 years. Photos simply don't do this piece justice!
The Autavia name was originally associated with dashboard clocks and instrumentation in automobiles and aircraft, with the name coming from a mix of Automotive and Aviation.
Fast forward to the early 1960s and the Autavia name was resurrected as part of Jack Heuer's goal to refocus the Heuer line of timepieces on chronographs. After its introduction in 1962, the Autavia went onto become one of the racing community's go-to chronographs throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
The watch you see here is an Autavia reference 2446C Mark II purchased from the original owner who original bought it in 1971. After sitting in his drawer for the past 35 years he decided now was the time to sell it.
Technical & Condition:
Overall the watch is in excellent condition for its age. The lume plots on both the dial and hands have taken on a lovely colour and the dial remains in very clean condition. Likewise the bezel is largely free from damage except from a few areas, mainly to the outside edges. Whilst the case has its fair share of scratches it retains its original shape. The movement is freshly serviced and running well. Finally the watch is fitted with a new, 3rd party leather strap.
