This Heuer Montreal 110.501 is a mid-1970s example of a racing chronograph introduced as part of Heuer’s North American market-building ambitions. Grand Prix racing didn’t reach Montreal’s Île Notre-Dame Circuit until a couple of years after this watch's manufacture. Nevertheless, the distinctive PVD-coated racing Chrono exudes the atmosphere of 1975’s close-fought F1 season – a year the late, great Niki Lauda apparently called ‘the unbelievable year’. Now you can pick up an honest example of this distinctive bicompax Heuer Chrono. And transport yourself back to those unforgettable duals between Lauda, Hunt, Fittipaldi and Reutemann.
Calling all Heuer collectors
If you collect vintage Heuers, we’re sure you’ll want to look closer at this example of the Heuer Montreal PVD (physical vapour deposition) chronograph. Porsche Design may have been first to launch a PVD-cased watch, but Heuer’s Montreal came close on its horological heels. With its black case, tachymeter scale and bold red pulsations quadrant, it was always a striking design. Now, nearly half a century later, the Montreal remains, arguably, an ‘under-the-radar’ Heuer for collectors. But maybe not for much longer. Our feeling is that the market for Montreals is catching up with the ubiquitous Carrera, Autavia and Monaco. Now could be the perfect time to put one in your collection.
Back to the 1970s with your Heuer Montreal PVD
If your collecting interests extend beyond Heuer or TAG-Heuer, this is a distinctive piece for a motorsport watch fan to enjoy. Of course, we’ve serviced this watch and it comes with our reassuring guarantee – as well as an original PVD-coated stainless steel Heuer strap and a decent third-party leather strap.
Treat yourself, strap your Montreal on and savour the lines of a 42 mm cushion case (with distinctive left-hand winding crown) that screams 1970s. Then enjoy the nostalgia as you’re back in the era of Ford’s mighty Cosworth DFV V8 and Lauda’s howling, championship-winning Ferrari flat-twelve…

Do watches come with original box and papers?
It depends on the individual watch. You can see details under "The Basics" heading on this page. For the majority of vintage watches their original box and papers have been lost to time. Whilst they are nice to have, it’s important to note that “box and papers” DO NOT authenticate a watch despite what many in our trade say. It’s also important to realise alot of sellers (including some of the most well known in the UK) put together full sets of box, papers, hang tags etc by buying blank paperwork and boxes in the secondary market. This is a very regrettable, but unfortunately common occurrence in the trade but something we will never do!
How do I know it will fit?
For metal bracelets we provide the size it will currently fit in the description section of this page. If this measurement is too large or too small we are able to assist in either adding or removing links. We also offer this service, post service on a at-cost basis (i.e. we don't add a margin).
Can you change the strap?
Absolutely! If you don't like the current strap, let us know and we'll change it for free! We maintain a broad selection of styles and can also source straps to your specification free of charge.
