An attractive example of the highly collectable Omega Speedmaster 105.003-65 "Ed White". This reference 105.003 Ed White was purchased directly from the family of the original owner and includes various paperwork as well as an Omega Extract from the Archives showing the watch originally delivered to the UK on August 16th, 1966.

The Speedmaster reference 105.003 was the first watch we bought when we founded this company and an illustration of that exact watch hangs on our office wall to this day. Not only is the Ed White significant to us but also to the history of the Omega Speedmaster model line.

The reference 105.003 was the last of the straight-lugged “Pre-Professional” Speedmasters. It was also the reference that underwent rigorous NASA testing in late 1964 before becoming certified as the official watch used on space missions on March 1st, 1965. Fast forward to June 3rd, 1965 and Edward White would wear a Speedmaster 105.003 over his suite on the first extravehicular spacewalk (EVA) carried out by a US astronaut.

This example of the 105.003 features an attractively aged original dial with gorgeously aged lume plots. The hands are in fair condition having previously been relumed. The Omega stamped glass remains free from significant damage with only a few age related scratches as expected from a watch of its age. The case remains in good shape and hasn't been polished to an inch within its life as is the unfortunate case with so many vintage Speedies. The case back is in good overall condition with the Hippocampus remaining clear. The pushers have been replaced in a past service. The Calibre 321 movement is serviced and remains in good shape. Finally, the watch is fitted with a later reference 1171 bracelet.
