A beautiful example of the Omega Speedsonic f300hz reference 188.0002, hailing from 1974 this Speedsonic is truly a rare gem.

The Omega Speedsonic 188.0002 was launched amid the quartz crisis of the 70's. In effort to remain relevant Omega joined many other Swiss brands by pouring millions into R&D for electronic technology.

As a result of this the tuning fork movement was introduced. In 1972 ETA released the 9210 tuning fork movement (regarded by some as the Rolls Royce of tuning fork movements). Omega was one of many customers that would go on to produce just 21,000 examples of the 9210. Like many manufacturers Omega assigned their own reference to the movement. The 1250 (date only) and 1255 (chronograph with a day/date). Unfortunately, the 9210 movement slowly fell into the history books as the price of the quartz technology continued to fall throughout this time period which led to the tuning fork movement no longer being economically viable.

The Omega Speedsonic has a 41mm case with a stunning sunburst effect to the bezel. The dial contains a day and date calendar, 30 minute register, hour register, and continuous small seconds register. It also has a tachymetre scale around the face. The 300hz you can see on the dial relates to the frequency (300Hz) at which the movement vibrates. This example also comes with the original bracelet, with the Omega brand logo, still in fantastic condition.

In summary, the historically significant Omega Speedsonic 188.0002 is not only an attractive addition to any collection but also an excellent investment piece for any collector looking to add distinctive, individual timepieces to their multitude of watches.

Don't hang around to snap up this rare Omega Speedsonic f300Hz 188.0002!

Presented in excellent vintage condition. The dial remains in exceptionally good order. The hands, possibly later replacements, are also in excellent shape. The case is probably the cleanest example we've seen, maintaining its original sunburst effect and bevel to the case edges with only light scratching present. The bracelet, which will fit wrists upto 18cm remains in good shape with a couple of marks and some stretching but very much still usable. Finally, the movement has received a fresh service.

What if something goes wrong with the watch

Whilst all our watches are fully serviced before sale, if something does go wrong, we'll repair it for free as part of our 1 year warranty

Do watches come with original box and papers?

It depends on the individual watch. You can see details under "The Basics" heading on this page. For the majority of vintage watches their original box and papers have been lost to time. Whilst they are nice to have, it’s important to note that “box and papers” DO NOT authenticate a watch despite what many in our trade say. It’s also important to realise alot of sellers (including some of the most well known in the UK) put together full sets of box, papers, hang tags etc by buying blank paperwork and boxes in the secondary market. This is a very regrettable, but unfortunately common occurrence in the trade but something we will never do!

How do I know it will fit?

For metal bracelets we provide the size it will currently fit in the description section of this page. If this measurement is too large or too small we are able to assist in either adding or removing links. We also offer this service, post service on a at-cost basis (i.e. we don't add a margin).

Can you change the strap?

Absolutely! If you don't like the current strap, let us know and we'll change it for free! We maintain a broad selection of styles and can also source straps to your specification free of charge.

Can you source something similar?

Absolutely! If its not quite what you’re looking for just get in touch and we can source one with our Free, No Obligation sourcing service. You can contact us on phone, live chat or simply submit the details of what you’re looking for on our “Find a Watch” page.

We can certainly try! We can request with our shipment partners for delivery on a certain day but ultimately the exact delivery date is subject to a number of factors outside our control.
